Musical Theatre
Saturdays 10-12pm
Ran by both Michael and Kirsty, our Musical Theatre class is an opportunity to refine your singing, dancing and acting skills, focusing on you becoming a confident and assured triple-threat!
Every week, we will have engaging and challenging workshops/lessons, learning material from Musical Theatre shows. You will be stretched to study a wide variety of styles and genres across the discipline of Musical Theatre.

Areas of development will include:

Ensemble Work: The Power of the Group
Our Focus: The heart of musical theatre lies in the power of the group. We focus on uniting individuals within the chorus through singing and movement, and the shared energy required to make a performance feel cohesive. Students learn to navigate complex staging while maintaining vocal and physical precision.
The Result: Performers develop the skills for synchronised movement, harmony, story-telling, and the collaboration that is essential for impactful productions.

Acting Through Song: Finding the Story
Our Focus: We treat every song as a script. Through lyric analysis and objective-setting, we bridge the gap between "singing a tune" and "living a moment."
The Result: Students stop "performing" and start "communicating," creating magnetic, emotionally truthful performances.

Vocal Artistry: Technical Excellence
Our Focus: Lessons prioritise vocal health, sustainable technique, and stylistic versatility. We explore different "placements" to suit everything from Rodgers & Hammerstein II to Hamilton.
The Result: A strong, flexible, and healthy instrument that can withstand the rigours of an eight-show week, and fundamentally showcase your unique voice.

Choreography: Narrative in Motion
Our Focus: We don't just teach steps; we teach intent. Students study various Broadway styles (Jazz, Tap, Contemporary) and learn how to maintain character while executing technical movement.
The Result: Dancers who move with "character-led" precision and can pick up professional-speed combinations with ease.

Building Your Repertoire:
The Performer's "Book"
Our Focus: We help students curate a personal portfolio of songs that suit their age, range, and casting type. We ensure they have a balanced "book" covering all musical eras.
The Result: Students leave with a ready-to-go selection of material, ensuring they are never caught off guard, are confident and ready for any avenue.

Audition Technique:
Owning the Room
Our Focus: We simulate the high-pressure environment of the casting room. This includes working with an accompanist, handling cold readings, monologue selections or "quick-learn" dance calls.
The Result: The mystery and anxiety of the audition is removed, replacing nerves with a professional, confident routine that showcase your abilities.
